Sucker Punch Spotlight  Dave Sherrill

Featuring Melissa Sherrill

So here it is the very last of my Suckerpunch Spotlights. I had a good time, but things change and I don't have the time I used to have to do this stuff. It's a bummer, but I'm hoping someone around the Stumblebum watercooler will pick up the torch and carry on.

So for my last interview I wanted to do someone that never asked to be in webcomics, my wife. She didn't have a choice, sometimes she doesn't even know what I've put up until it's on the internet. Plus I think she is lovely and fascinating and has all my money.

Here's the Q and A with Melissa Sherrill.

1. Do you like being in webcomics?

For sure! It has put me in touch with some awesome internet people. Some of who I can't wait to meet at SPX in October. But I think most of all it let's people know what it's like to live with you, which if it weren't for the webcomic, they would never believe.

2. Sometimes I don't draw you very well, how would you like to be drawn?

You draw me just fine. I really don't have a preference... well maybe not fat. You know, no big neck or ginormous arms. But you can draw me with a lot of junk, because only those who have met me in real life know that I have no ass.

3. Do you like going to the conventions?

Yeah, I do. At my very first convention I met some cool people, who are amazingly talented. The best part is that we have got to hang out with them more often. I have some blackmail pictures if anyone is interested. Bonus is making fun of the people who dress up or making nervous breakdown jokes in front of Margo Kidder.

4. What's the new website you are working on?

I'm so excited about it! Well, I asked three of my good, crafty friends if they wanted to sell their wares online and they said, yes. I think once it comes together, which it's in its final stages, it is going to be awesome. There will be jewelry, aprons, purses, knitted and crocheted items, as well as paintings, and anything else that strikes us at the moment. It should be up by mid-August and you should check it out www.girlscraftlab.com.

5. Who would you like to be drawn by?

Some cool kids did some guest strips for Cultural Void, and I was lucky enough to be drawn by some of my favorite online webcomic artists.

6. What's the weirdest thing to ever come out of being in webcomics?

I guess it would be going to a convention and someone recognizing me and coming up to me and giving me a hug. It was the sweetest thing, I just wasn't expecting it. That and everyone at work wearing a one-inch button with me on their apron. That's just bizarre.

7. Is there anything you don't want me to put in a comic?

Well, if I mention it, then it's like you put it in a comic. So, I'm not answering that one.

8. When are you going to draw another comic?

There has to be a group of circumstances in order for that to happen. One, being you doing something crazy. Two, is me being loaded enough to think that I can draw stick figures. Three, the moon aligning with...okay...there is no three.
